Tips for First-Time Bible Readers

Tips for First-Time Bible Readers

Hey,

If you’re just starting out with the Bible, it’s awesome to kick off with some key books that really bring out the heart of the Christian faith. Check out these top picks:

OLD TESTAMENT

Genesis: It’s all about the beginning – creation, humanity, and God’s promises to the nation of Israel.

Psalms: Get ready for a collection of prayers and songs that cover every human emotion and show real faith in action.

Proverbs: Super practical wisdom for navigating life like a boss 💪🏼

NEW TESTAMENT

The Gospel of John: I personally started from here 💜 Dive into Jesus’ life, teachings, and why believing in Him means eternal life. It’s packed with deep truths and hope (TIP: John 20:31 rocks!).

The Gospel of Mark: Fast-paced and to the point, this one’s all about Jesus’ actions and impact. It's consider by many to be the most straightforward Gospel.

Acts of the Apostles: See how the early church took off after Jesus' resurrection, and the Holy Spirit got "things rolling" after Jesus.

MORE MUST-READS

Once you’ve soaked in Jesus’ life and the early church "buzz":

Dig into the Epistles (Letters), starting with Romans or Ephesians, to understand Christian beliefs and how to live them out.

Jump back to the Old Testament for Exodus, where Moses leads the Israelites out of Egypt. It’s a wild ride showing God’s plan in action. (Exodus was an Aha! moment for me when I read it for the first time!)

TIPS FOR DIGGING IN

💜 Pray up. Ask God to guide your reading and open your heart to His Word.

💜 Take it easy. Enjoy the journey. Reflect on what you’re reading and how it fits into your life. You can use the SOAP Method that I have available for FREE.

💜 Use help. Grab a study Bible or ask for help when things get tricky.

💜 Buddy up. Join a Bible study crew or team up with a friend. Chatting about what you read can spark new ideas and keep you stoked. You can also sign up to receive an email in firsthand as soon as I have a new post or new Bible Study Guides!

Remember, the Bible’s a goldmine of wisdom that never runs dry. Start strong with these books and let your journey unfold.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

Every part of the Bible shows us more about God’s story and His love for us. Keep up the good work, friends!
