When God Feels Silent: Why the Wait Is Worth It

Ever heard someone say, “People have been talking about Jesus coming back since forever”? Maybe you’ve heard it from a friend, a coworker, or even a family member. It can feel kind of discouraging, right?n But guess what? That same kind of waiting happened before—and God showed up in a BIG way.

LET'S GO BACK FOR A MOMENT...

Between the Old Testament and the New Testament, there were 400 years of silence.

Yep. Four. Hundred. Years.

No prophets. No new words from heaven. Just quiet.

Can you imagine being part of a generation that only heard stories from the past? About how God spoke to Moses, parted the sea, or sent fire from heaven? It probably felt like God had forgotten His people. But He hadn’t.

The Silence Was Part of The Plan

Then, after 400 years, everything changed. Jesus was born. The Messiah came right on time, just like God promised. And with Him came hope, healing, and the start of something brand new.

Fast Forwarded to Today...

We’re in another season of waiting. Jesus promised He would return and we believe Him! But let’s be honest: it’s hard sometimes, isn't? People roll their eyes, they make jokes, they say, “You still believe in that?”

Yes. We do.

Because we know what happened before and we know God keeps His promises.

Simple. Like. That.

The Wait Doesn't Mean God Forgot

If God was faithful before, He’ll be faithful again! The silence doesn’t mean He’s not working, it just means the story isn’t finished yet. Just like those who waited for Jesus the first time. We’re waiting too. But not without hope, not alone, and definitely not without purpose.

So What Do We Do While We Wait?

We stay close to Jesus, we love people well and keep sharing the Good News. Ask Him, "God, what do you want me to do while I'm waiting? What do you want me to learn?" You should ask Him these questions every time you're in a season of waiting... Because there's a purpose in the waiting too!

And we also should remind each other that God’s timing is always perfect.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NVI)

Let’s be the generation that waits well with joy, faith, and fire in our hearts. He is coming back and it’ll be worth every second!

Still waiting? Me too. Let’s wait together WITH HOPE and EXPECTANCY 💜
